点评:Pittville Pump Rooms is a jewel, an 1820s architectural delight, set in a park, but for something listed as one of the top things to see in Cheltenham the experience of arriving on a Sunday afternoon in August was a real disappointment; it was shut, the curtains were mostly drawn, but where we could glimpse in we saw a high domed room, which looked intriguing, but the space filled with stacking chairs etc for wedding use. There is no information about function or even fundraising, although I later found a website saying its really mostly wedding venue space, open only for a few hours on two weekday mornings. This seems a real missed opportunity for the city's tourism and heritage identity (lots of fantastic architecture, but very few interesting buildings are open to the public). The park is pretty enough and busy on a Sunday afternoon, pity people don't get the opportunity to enjoy this building, surely owned in the public interest (owned by Cheltenham Borough Council since c1890).
