点评:Been visiting this place for several decades. It never ceases to amaze me. Granted, the camp sites are very primitive (they do not have power), and if you visit during drought conditions in East Texas, the waterfalls will most likely not be running. I've usually tried visiting within a couple days after a rainstorm to catch the waterfalls doing their thing. Also nothing like dozing off at night to the sounds of a far off barred owl and water running in the creek below you. There's no "entertainment" in a park like this - nature is the only show. If you're not from East Texas, be aware that the humidity will be pretty rough, much like visiting the gulf coast. The hiking trail can be pretty interesting, and I've had good hikes and bad ones. Worst ones were May to September - high heat index, super humid, and not a breeze anywhere. Best hikes (usually) were mid October to late December before the first freeze sets in, and then maybe March and April. One hike, around October 2015, I was heading back in. It had been a very quiet hike, just a few fall field crickets talking. Cool temps that evening. But, I suddenly walked up on a large buck and a doe both foraging 30 feet off trail. I scared them as bad as they scared me. The buck gave a couple of loud, resonant snorts that echoed through the woods. In a split second, they were both gone. Not all my hikes/trips were like that, but I've had several.
