点评:To spend an hour or more in this treasure trove of a museum is the mostly worthwhile use of time I can imagine away from the fells. It is a carefully curated jumble of genius of which Ruskin would approve. From the story of the industrialisation of Coniston through the golden age of railways, to the rocks that made the Lake District, you are immediately taken on a fascinating journey through the village and its surroundings’ astounding and rich history. There is something for everyone - lovers of social history, art, geology, literature and of course engineering are all catered for. The Bluebird Wing is a marvel, with the mighty, jawdropping hydroplane so reverently and immaculately restored, proudly at its heart. A fitting, poignant and wonderful tribute the the great Donald Campbell and of course the people of the village who have done so much to keep his memory vividly alive. Thank you Coniston.
