点评:We visited in late February. The central part was open, as were the grounds. The wings however were closed for maintenance. Nonetheless there was plenty to occupy us during the hours that we visited - and we would be keen to revisit to see parts that were closed. The sheer scale is vast. My photo does not do it justice. It is strange that there is not a panoramic view en-route from the front gate, however the guide book (well worth purchasing) explains that this is because trees were planted to shield the property from strong winds. All staff were friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Ickworth is a "three paw" dog friendly establishment and we saw a few four legged friends on site. We visited mid-week and had no problems queue wise that some other contributors have mentioned. The cafe at the main house was however almost full, so we had a hot beverage at the quieter Porters Lodge facility, which is dog friendly, instead. The gardens are expansive, well tended and a joy to walk through. Again, a return visit, during a different month, would reveal changed surroundings. This really is a place where a single visit is not enough. Disabled facilities are excellent with ramped access and a lift within the rotunda. It is perfectly possible to spend a whole day here, equally a short visit concentrating on the interior can be made. The history is fascinating and we really felt blessed and privileged to visit. Thank you to everyone who made our visit so pleasurable.
