One of the best Tudor houses I’ve ever visited.

点评：A total gem of a Tudor house with beautiful gardens.
It is part of historic houses so we didn’t have to pay but the entrance fee is £22.50.
The gardens are a series of rooms with amazing topiary and ponds. They are evocative of Tudor times. Restoration continues in the kitchen gardens. Lovely dovecote in the grounds and the river that runs alongside the house is the River Piddle!
The house has an impressive number of rooms from a Tudor great hall to 1920s bedroom. You could wander about at your leisure and there was plenty of good signage. The one room steward was based downstairs and was very young which was lovely. She knew her stuff!
The whole house was really visitor friendly and not busy at all for a Sunday.
We stopped off for lunch and the cafe had a brilliant choice of fresh dishes such as sandwiches and cooked meals. Service was very good.
There was also a gift shop.
I would highly recommend this place. It’s a fine example of Tudor architecture and the cellar had a great hologram telling us all about the ghosts in the house.
The trip was great and I’d say you need about 2-3 hours.
