点评：A solid 5 out of 5. Some nice paintings in the house and lovely gardens. It was half-term so the gardens were very busy with family outings, but the house wasn’t too overcrowded. There’s a great bird hide, which although not that far from the crowds is amazingly quiet and has huge feeders that attract all sorts of birds. The ‘Long Walk’ was the highlight for me, giving wonderful views over the valley, which being part of the Surrey Hills is classic English countryside. I undertook one of the longer walks you can do in the woods. There are various signposted routes on set paths, though I did get a bit carried away with how easy the downhill walk was and regretted a bit the walk back up on a warm sunny day. Thoroughly recommended (even though it was a bit too busy for the traditional National Trust cafe visit) and as ever it's largely thanks to the wonderful volunteers who are so welcoming and helpful.
