Early 16thC house with a wonderful Dame Ellen Terry museum. The gardens in June have gorgeous smelling roses.

点评：We picked the right day to visit. A bit of sunshine although windy. The roses were out in the garden and the smell was gorgeous.
However, the main reason to go was the house and the wonderful museum for Ellen Terry put together by her daughter Edy. I think the beetle wing dress was the star of the show, which Dame Ellen had a hand in designing. It is superb. The museum of artefacts from her wonderful life shows how popular she was.
My grateful thanks to the kind lady (downstairs Wednesday) who gave me a potted history of Dame Ellen's married life. Ironic that her two children were born out of wedlock.
She was a powerful woman and actress obviously as she was a high earner and very well respected. I admire her too.
Tea in the barn in the garden was very good.
Only two loos though!
