点评:I had a great tour of Clara Barton's house. The tour was led by a local volunteer, Pam, who was extremely knowledgeable about Clara Barton, the house, and the history of the period. Pam made the tour very engaging and enjoyable! The architecture of the house is quite surprising, along with the unusual use of bandage fabric to create coverings for ceilings and cabinet doors, to keep down the costs of finishing the house. At the present time, only the first floor is open for tours and Clara Barton's furnishings are in storage due to the house's pending renovation, but there are some good signs with photos of the house furnished, and Pam explained all the rooms and what they were used for. I learned a lot about Clara Barton and her amazing life's work, which continued into her later years. It is amazing what a single person can accomplish! I also did not know until the tour that the Clara Barton National Historic Site was the first national historic site dedicated to a woman's life and achievements in the United States.
