点评：Being in Masoala is an unforgettable experience.
We felt lucky to have Lauriot (visit.masoala@gmail.com) as our English-speaking organiser during our trip with our 10-year-old child. Getting to Masoala is an adventure in itself: our ferry, the Melissa Express, from Tamatave (Foulpointe) to Maroantsetra was delayed by five days due to bad weather. While we waited, Lauriot arranged an alternative programme in both Tamatave and the beach town of Foulpointe, perfectly balancing activities and relaxation.
When we finally reached Maroantsetra after a 14hrs nocturnal boat trip, we enjoyed three unforgettable days in Masoala. Masoala is calm, authentic, and wild. Thanks to our guide, Claudio, we encountered lots of animals during our day and night hikes. He taught us a lot about the flora as well. It’s worth noting that Masoala (and Madagascar’s east coast in general) is very rainy in July and August, which can make spotting animals more challenging and may limit activities. For example, it was too wet for kayaking or swimming. If you prefer drier conditions, September to December is a better choice.
We stayed at Dounia Lodge — comfortable accommodation with great food. It is situated right next to entrance of the national park. On our way back, we stopped at Nosy Mangabe for a final hike before ending our journey in Maroantsetra where we took the flight back to Antananarivo.
Lauriot maintained a truly tailor-made approach from start to finish, ensuring that — together with his team — this trip became an unforgettable experience.
