点评：We watched a Rick Steves video about this part of France that included this cave, so we decided to try to go. We bought tickets online the day they became available, and it's a good thing because access to this cave is limited and tightly controlled.
Tours last only 30 minutes to preserve the ancient artwork. The artwork in this cave is breath-taking in its simplicity and longevity. Your 21st-century eyes will see drawings created roughly 15,000 to 20,000 years ago. No photography is allowed, but the gift shop has books available with photos of the beautiful drawings.
Some tips:
*It is cooler in the cave, and rather dark, so a warmer sweater or jacket might come in handy.
*The tour guide for our visit did not speak English (it was February with few foreign tourists) so you may have a less than ideal tour if you don't speak French and get a guide who doesn't speak English. Summer tours might be more in French.
*Keep your children under control. This is not Six Flags; it's France, where kids are expected to behave well in public. If you do not manage your kids, the tour guide might, and not nearly as kindly as you would.
*When you buy your tickets online, remember that they go on sale at 12:01 am France time, just after midnight, each day. Depending on where you live, calculate what your local time is when they go on sale in France, and buy them immediately. For example, East Coast Americans should check the website around 6:00-7:00 pm, EST. This may save you from disappointment, especially in summer high tourist months.
