点评：The Cullinan diamond mine is situated 45 kilometers North East of Pretoria in the diamond mining town of Cullinan. The mine stated operating in 1903 and it remains the home of diamonds.
Here we can understand about diamond mining and diamonds, see the kimberlite rocks, view the big hole half km wide. Some of the large diamonds found on this mine are
1. The Centenary 273.85 ct cut from a 599.10 ct rough diamond
2. The Golden jubilee 545.65 ct cut from a 755.5 ct rough diamond
3. The Taylor button 69.65 ct cut from a 240.8 ct rough diamond
4. The Cullinan heritage 507 ct
Amongst all the large diamonds found on this mine, the Cullinan Diamond reigns supreme. It was discovered in 1905, It weighed 3106 carats and they sya the largest gem diamond ever discovered.
The the surface tours are still operating where as the underground tours stands cancelled due to public safety. The tours take less than 2 hours.
It was quite a different experience and the guide was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of detailed information. There is not booking required and could visit area comfortably.
