False advertising in so called Big 5 reserve

点评：We are nature lovers and took a daytrip to the reserve. I paid for 6 people and thought the entrance fee was ok. Then we paid an additional R250 per car extra for the self drive (as Krugerholics we do self drives all the time) The access road to Dinokeng is the worst gravel road we have ever traveled on! The shaking could have measured 9 on the Richter scale. When we eventually came to the shop where you can buy a map, refreshments, etc it was such a disappointment. There were very little to choose from and we had to make do with what they had. The self drive was laughable. We saw 6 red Hartebeest (lying down), a couple of Impala, 1 Vervet monkey, 1 Warthhog, 3 Giraffes and a couple of birds. Apparently one has to travel to the Northern side of the park, pay a very high price for a game drive and then you will see all the animals that are shown on the advertisements. This puts the Big 5 experience close to Gauteng, way out of reach for normal families. I feel that Dinokeng's marketing boarders on false advertising and people that do not read reviews beforehand will be really disappointed. For our family it felt as if we were robbed of what was promised to be a great and relaxing experience. The roads were terrible, the map was confusing, too many little loops that does not deliver and the game spotting was few and far between. We travel extensively in South Africa and this experience will definitely go down as the worst outing ever! Be warned and stay away unless you have the big bucks to do a game drive in the far north.
