My fifth time as a volunteer and I still plan to go back!
Ukutula Conservation Center的点评
点评：I have just returned from my FIFTH volunteering experience as the Ukutula Conservation Centre and had an incredible experience as usual.
First and foremost the mane (excuse the pun) thing I love about Ukutula are of course the lions - as a frequent volunteer, I have seen many of the lions grow from cubs to adults. As a volunteer, you get plenty of opportunities to clean out enclosures and feed the lions. As the owners have limited their breeding for research purposes, they usually have only one or two cubs at most - on this occasion, they had only one female lion cub called Harper, who was very cute and friendly. Harper was special for me, being the offspring of two of my favourite lions named Caspian and Narnia, the former whom I named and the latter who was the first cub I helped care for in my 2015 visit. I thoroughly enjoyed the lion enrichment walks - being there for just over 3 weeks, I was fortunate enough to get a total of four walks and saw various different aspects of lion behaviour! I also had an amazing time going on the waterhole experience.
The owners of Ukutula are actively involved in research into various African species - to show how dedicated they are to research, they built a huge research laboratory in 2017 and have hosted a number of educational projects alongside reputable Universities.
Hospitality at Ukutula is incredible. Volunteers get amazing accommodation to sleep in and food is very appetizing. As a returning volunteer as well, I always get the chance to dine in the restaurant - cuisine here is the best!
Overall, as someone who thoroughly enjoys volunteering at Ukutula, I cannot recommend this place enough! If you are considering volunteering at Ukutula, I guarantee you shall not be disappointed. I have been there five times and am already thinking about my next visit - I know this shall definitely be happening in the near future!
