点评:Most people come to Windsor to see the Castle, and leave. If you get to stay a night or two, there is a good chance you will run into Alexandra Gardens on the west side of River Thames. Constructed in 1902 and named for Queen Alexandra, it is indeed a pleasant stroll. On a nice day the area is good for a wholesome picnic.
Close by are river boats to go on. This past summer of 2025 there was even a large Ferris wheel to one side. If you continue from Windsor Town, you will come across a monument dedicated to the WWII aircraft known as a Hawker Hurricane. We saw this monument by taxi in 2024. After seeing the Hurricane, we had to come back the following year to find out about this monument. Windsor is indeed a quaint place to stay.
You may see plenty of swans and various birds on the River Thames. There is a bridge close by that leads to Eton College. Along High Street there are plenty of cafés and shops to enjoy. We did have a lunch and dinner at Cote Windsor along the River Thames. The ambiance is superb.
If you do get a chance to stay in Windsor, don’t miss The Great Park and The Long Walk south of town. It was constructed by Queen Anne back in 1710 for her coaches. It is a 6-mile round trip to a statue of King George III made in 1829. You may even see the famous Red Deer.
