点评:Our tour of the main wine-producing areas of the Loire Valley continued with Stage 3: Beaugency to Sancerre (Day 3 in France). We were now based in Sancerre.
This is a really excellent promotional enterprise created, funded and used for promotional purposes by the wine-makers of Sancerre. A really imaginative use of a rather unattractive old historic building, now providing a fun experience of the cultural importance of the wine industry here in this Appellation. There is an animated relief map, a 4D cinema (enhanced with seat movements and a couple of water-mist sprays), video displays, a shop, a garden and a terrace (closed today because of the poor weather). There is also an information space and activities for children.
Delivered in both French and English it was certainly informative, interesting and fun. We bought wine in the shop to take back to the England as part of our (we feel pitiful post-Brexit) personal allowance. There were all manner of very ‘touristy’ wine related items on sale in the shop, but as you may suspect we did not purchase any.
Our visit took about 45 minutes, but had the gardens and terrace been open our visit may have been longer.
