点评:Tour by park concessionaire operated bus, it’s a bus but fairly comfortable. Our driver/guide was knowledgeable and humorous, 31 years working in Alaska. Patient and responsive, he was the ideal guide for this trip. Denali is huge and though we drove over 40 miles into the park, we were far from Denali itself and only saw a tiny fraction of what exists. We saw moose, dall sheep, caribou, ptarmigan, but alas no bears. We stopped several times to stretch legs and use park comfort facilities. The idea of the experience is a solid one with the trip interspacing different types of climate and vegetation zones.
Unfortunately, the trip is, in our view, too long - a five hour endurance that marred the positives. While it may be difficult to limit the time while still giving guests the opportunity to see certain things, a rethink is needed. The NPS is also to blame, with the land slip on the park road (already two years old and at least two to three more years to fix - seriously!!!) The administration can get an east coast highway fixed in days, but it takes five years to fix a road in a national park - poorly done NPS!
If you want to see a small slice of Denali NP and are prepared for the long nature of the tour, it may be worthwhile. However, if you are pressed for time and want to explore other activities, then give this a pass.
