Dissapointing Trip

点评：I am very sad to write this review, but unfortunately feel that it is more than justified. I want to start off by saying that my husband and I went fishing with Gerald almost 10 years ago. That was one of the best fishing experiences we have had, 5+ stars from 2015. Since our trip, my father has dreamed of coming to Costa Rica to go fishing for sailfish.
Fast forward, we finally made it happen for him. We booked our trip back to Costa Rica revolving around sailfish. My father decided to book two fishing days with this group. One day was a larger group so had to go out on the larger boat with a different captain.
Things sadly have gown down hill since our last trip. I felt that we were clear that the intention of our trip was for billfish.
We left the dock with no other information from our crew than a quick introduction. We did not hear another word from our crew until we had made multiple attempts to make conversation.
There was one sailfish bite after about an hour and we got very excited. The captain then left that area and spent majority of our trip trolling for tuna. We were fortunate to see many spinner dolphins, but not a single bite. We finally caught several skip jack and a small mahi the last 30 minutes of our day.
We tried to make conversations with the crew, but did not receive the typical friendly experience we have come to love in CR. There was no instructions or discussions about the fishing or what was going on. You would have to climb up to the captain's chair to recieve any information. The food available for lunch were sandwiches that were never put in a cooler and a jug of water, both left to bake in the sun. There were some sodas, beer and fresh fruit available. Our group was very hungry and dehydrated upon our return.
Needless to say we ended up canceling our second day to go with another fishing company out of Playa Flamingo. That day we landed 13 sailfish and a 60inch mahi. I know fishing is fishing, but wow what a difference in the experience with the different companies.
