点评:Found our visit disappointing. Started badly, we understood that dogs are not allowed on the reserve but let them out of the car on the lead in the carpark to have a wee - within a minute we were approached by a man and abruptly told to put the dogs back into the car -ok - it was only a bit of carpark we had no intention of taking them into the actual reserve, we couldn’t leave them at home we were on holiday.
As for the nature reserve itself - disappointing - deserted by human visitors and little wild life. The paths through bunds with limited views of the ponds would have been enhanced by some fascinating facts, puzzles, sculptures and such like. Barbed wire fences, electric fences , unsympathetic design of Look Out hide,(a wall of glass not really the best for a hide) didn’t enhance the visitor experience. All in all Brockholes seemed to lack the design ethos for a Nature Reseve and Visitor Centre. We have visited many RSPB and Wild Life reserves over the years this was by far the most disappointing.
