One of the most important anthropology sites in the country
Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village的点评
点评:Really cool experience. Site is most important because the discovery here helped overturn the land bridge theory of North America’s first humans.
Since the discovery, they have built a roof and a viewing platform where you can see the discovery. You also watch a film to help understand what you are seeing.
The other part of this place might interest your kids more as they have a reconstructed 16th century Monongahela village, a reconstructed pioneer settlement, and a village settlement. Kids really enjoyed the axe and Atlatl throwing.
Takes about two to three hours to see everything. Site is about an hour drive from Pittsburgh. Feels very remote but directions to site are well signed once you get to Avella.
