Lang Pioneer Village Museum的点评
点评：Despite coming to the Peterborough area yearly to visit family, we had never been here, so headed over with my elderly aunt. Lang Pioneer Village is a 25 acre site near Keene on the Williams Treaties First Nations territory, between the historic Lang grist mill and Hope sawmill. It was very interesting to walk around the village, with many historic buildings moved here from townships in the county, representing mainly the mid to later 19th century. There are about 30 different homes, businesses, barns, some animals. The young costumed interpreters were very interesting and knowledgeable, as they demonstrated a variety of activities. We went into several buildings, including the Blacksmith Shop, Tinsmith Shop, Fitzpatrick House, Douro Town Hall, Methodist Church, Weaver Shop and Jaquard Loom Interpretive Centre, Keene Hotel, Blacksmith Shop. The buildings mostly close from 12-12:30 as all the staff go to lunch. It was busy the day we visited, as school and home school groups were touring, and had all brought picnic lunches. The grounds are lovely. There is nearby parking, washrooms in 2 locations, and a very limited snack and gift shop. Most paths are a bit rough, but generally manageable for a walker. A few buildings have concrete ramps to enter, but many have steps which are not accessible for walkers or w/c, and my aunt had to stay outside with her walker, while we did a quick peek through those buildings.
