useless reservation system ruins what could be a great idea and visit

点评：Going to talk about bad stuff first so you all know what to look out for. First of all, you have to reserve your time before showing up. You look on their website and frankly you'd think since absolutely nobody has bought tickets on a day, you'd be there by yourself. Absolutely not. I checked and bought our ticket an hour before driving up there which was 20ish minutes. When I got there, the entire parking lot was full and we had to park on the grass. There was a huge party of schoolkids in the zoo yelling and screaming. Not only that but also there was a lot of people like couples and individual families and such who were there by themselves that clearly were not with the school. I guess all they could have reserved a spot within that 20 min drive we took, but that's kinda sus. Which means either the reservation system is a huge useless scam, or they do not enforce the reservation system they purport to use and people were just coming up to the door and getting tickets. Also, if they have a school group coming in, their website should absolutely warn you, since they want you to reserve so the zoo isn't overcrowded at any time. Why even have the system at all then if they let you reserve when a school group is coming? Why not warn customers about it? It's a severe oversight. Potentially a great ally in planning a trip so you can avoid crowds, but completely wasted and useless.
For the record, I think if you want to avoid our fate, wait for at least 2 hours after opening time so that any school group will have gone. Of course if a school shows up, they'd have to go in the morning because kids would need to be back at school before 2-3 pm when school lets out. So you showing up at noon or later would probably avoid a huge crowd of kids.
The zoo is a good but small size. Very interesting that it's located in a high school. You won't run into the students or their cars. The students may come into the zoo at any time as it is in their curriculum to study. I think if you were at a relaxed pace, you could spend 45-60 min here. Really high quality animals, nice zoo.
