点评：At some point while trip planning, our group (me, my sister, my mom, 2 nieces ranging in age from late teens to 74) saw images from this winery estate & knew that we wanted to visit. We were in Porto for 4 days and reached out to a local guide to see if he could plan an itinerary including Quinta da Avelada and Guimaraes. He made the reservations, which I think are highly recommended if planning to make a visit.
Christina was our excellent guide through the beutiful gardens. She has been there quite a long time in several different capacities and was quickly able to answer any question we posed to her. The whole place seems enchanted with moss and storybook like scenery. In addition to the architecture and gardens, we saw peacocks, goats, doves, ducks, and other animals. Some of our favorite sights/smells/sounds from the garden tour included the guard gate, the honeymoon cottage, the 16th century window at the duck pond, the brandy cellar, the 4 sisters fountain, and the 300 year old camellia tree. Christina was also our guide for the tasting. Again, she did a lovely job with our group. None of us have much expertise with wine and she was able to share information and tips at a level that novices like us appreciated.
