Erasmus Darwin House的点评
点评：This visit was something of an alterative. We had not realised how important a thinker Erasmus Darwin actually was and how he and his friends were so dynamic in shaping progress in the UK. Without spoiling a visit for anyone, rest assured that time spent in Darwin's house and gardens with be a deeply satisfying experience. That said the house is so full of this to experience make sure you give yourself the time to do it justice. It is a marvellous house and each room provides a new dimension to the man and his time. There are audio buttons that bring the man to life, pictures many, working models and things you can touch. We used the house's website on our mobile phone to listen to an audio-tour of what we were seeing and this did so much to enhance our visit. One of the things that was a bit of a reality check was Darwin's awareness that he needed to guard his reputation and income by focusing on his medical profession, rather that giving full throttle to inventing. (To do so might have threatened this at a time when narrow mindedness could be ruinous. )This visit splendidly illustrated what might have been able to focus on being an inventor. He was clearly a great thinker. There is more than enough to please all ages in this museum, including those who would like to dress-up! On the day we visited the sun was blazing and the temperature into the thirties, this made the calm of the house so welcoming and the herb gardens so utterly wonderful. This is a remarkable place. The small shop and items to buy will please many. There is a toilet. The house is part of the cathedral close and so be sure to follow the paths from the garden to the Vicars' Close for more delight.
