点评:This was our first museum we visited in Hakodate but second one in Hokkaido to learn more about the various Northern People of Japan.
We took advantage of the multiple museum discount to see three for just 720 yen.
Backpacks had to be stored in a locker but the 100yen coin was returned at the end.
This museum exhibits covered two floors. It opened with the life and customs of the Ainu people across each month of the year. Clothing, jewelry, tools and more excites were well presented and accompanied by English for us visitors. Many of those explanations were summaries from the museum director. Unfortunately much of the true meaning or names of what we saw had been obscured or lost when the Japanese tried to assimilate the various Northern People and stop their customs and language. A bit unfortunate but at least they are trying to document what they can.
The last upstairs rooms covered some of the main people involved in researching the Northern Cultures.
Well worth the time.
