长白山天池的点评
点评：Since ancient times, Changbai Mountain has been a sacred mountain for the Jurchen (女真) and Korean peoples. It is a dormant volcano, and Tianchi (Heaven Lake) is the body of water formed within its crater.
Because the weather in the region is highly changeable, the scenic area sometimes closes due to heavy rain; at other times, thick fog and mist can obscure the view, making it impossible to see the lake in its entirety even when standing right at the water's edge. Consequently, the tour guide spent the preceding days managing expectations, explaining that catching a glimpse of Heaven Lake depended on the weather—as well as one's fortune and luck. Thus, we were overjoyed and excited when the lake finally came into view.
Like most high-altitude lakes, Heaven Lake is beautiful, elegant, and serene ~ a truly delightful sight. I longed to simply sit by the shore and spend a quiet half-day there. Unfortunately, restrictions let people could only admire the view from afar, standing on the high banks. It was also incredibly crowded with tourists; one could only seize a fleeting minute or two at the very front of the throng to take in the magnificent and stunning scenery.
