A Beautiful Lake with Great Memories — But Needs Better Maintenance

点评：I’ve been visiting Gregory Lake since my childhood — for over 22 years — and it’s a place that holds many cherished memories. The landscaping is lovely, the cool climate is refreshing, and it’s still a wonderful spot to visit with family. The lake area itself is scenic and peaceful, especially for walks, picnics, or simply enjoying the view.
However, I was disappointed during my recent visit to see that the bicycle track area on the opposite side of the lake is not well maintained. There was a lot of garbage pulled out from the lake, and the smell was quite unpleasant. Even worse, the path was littered with poop from ponies and horses, making it difficult — and unsafe — for children to play or ride in that area.
It’s sad to see such a beautiful and historic place neglected in parts. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and maintenance, Gregory Lake could easily be one of the top attractions in Nuwara Eliya again. I truly hope the authorities take action soon.
