L'Anse Aux Meadows National Historic Site的点评
点评：L'Anse aux Meadows is the only authenticated site of Norse settlement in North America. L'Anse aux Meadows dates from ca. AD 1000. In the Visitor Centre, I saw a model of a Viking ocean-going trader from the time period of L'Anse aux Meadows. Then I followed the boardwalk to see the remains of the first iron furnace in the Americas. I was able to watch archaeologists digging in order to analyze soil samples. The ruins are an important historic site. There is not much left, but you can read the descriptions and ask questions of the Parks Canada employees.
Just past the ruins of the actual settlement, they built a reconstructed Viking village in 1982. You could meet a Viking and talk to them. You can enter the interior of a Viking long house and speak to its inhabitants as well as listen to music of the period. As you stroll through the re-constructed Viking village, imagine their life 1000 years ago. Well worth a visit.
