Wonderful pool and setting, just a victim of its success

点评：I’m glad I had read reviews before heading here. We arrived to get in at 12 on a sunny Wednesday and the queue was about 25 places long, only took 10 mins to wait to get in. Car parking nearby was an issue, I actually think the best idea is to park at Clarke’s village and walk through to the high street. I parked at Southside and we were limited to 3 hours parking, which thankfully was just enough time, but longer would have been better.
Lots of shaded places to set up a picnic blanket, and a few people (myself included) had brought parasols to sit under. Changing rooms were barely being used but they were clean and practical. We took a picnic, so I can’t offer any cafe advice.
The pools and the splash pad were great, lovely temperatures and kids are allowed in both pools. Armbands are allowed in both pools too but only in the shallow half of the deeper pool. No floats or inflatables are allowed in either (aside from armbands). Which I understand from a visibility perspective for the lifeguards to see everyone.
It was crowded, being a hot day. And the plentiful lifeguards had a job stopping people doing things they, well, usually do in pools. Like jump in, or go over the very small wall from one pool to another, or do somersaults underwater… the main issue being how many people were in the pool.
It’s great to see the lifeguards so diligent and watchful (and stressed), but honestly it could all be solved by having a booking system, or a limit on numbers.
We had a great time, the kids absolutely loved it and it’s such a lovely setting. But do the staff a favour and give better control on numbers.
