点评:We visited the mill whilst on holiday in Lyme Regis, and are certainly pleased we did.
We were not expecting to be offered a free tour, and certainly not to encounter someone as passionate and knowledge as Sue, the volunteer Miller on duty.
We spent a happy hour touring the working mill, watching the flour being milled and sampling the different courseness of flours. Sue was very knowledgeable and engaging, offering our sons (aged 12 and 14) the chance to have a go at hand milling and operating the sack hoist. She had them interested and asking questions. Sue was patient and generous with her time, even offering local advice on where else to visit on our trip which was gratefully received.
We then visited the shop and bought a wholemeal bread making kit and a sourdough starter whilst being served by Mary, who spent a long time explaining sour dough starters and the difference between them, and offering recipe card free of charge to take home (all recipes created and tested by mill volunteers)
If you're in Lyme Regis, take time to visit. It's well worth the visit, and while you're there don't forget to leave a donation so that this lovely attraction can stay open.
