点评:The museum is on the North side of the Isère in the former church of Saint-Laurent; entry is up a very steep path behind the building, so you enter almost at roof level. The self guided tour starts by looking down into the nave which has been fully excavated to reveal tombs below, and which has a continuous light show with ethereal music. Stairs take you down past various displays (most of the screens were non-functioning) until you get to the level of the cloisters, where there were rather more informative displays about how archaeologists can study bones to make inferences about age, gender and health of the person at the time they died. Passing in front of the altar, which is still in place, you climb back up, with a side room showing some of the artefacts, notably coins, found during the excavation. It’s moderately interesting, and like all the provincial museums, has free admission, but there’s nothing linking orientation numbers to any text or audio guide, and the free, English language leaflet, does not follow the same order as the tour.
