Yes People...The Ranger is Referring To YOUR Child...Not Just Others.
Bat Flight Program in Carlsbad Caverns National Park的点评
点评：In our opinion, this is the very best part of The Park.
About a 7 mile drive from White's City, the closest town. If you are eligible for handicapped parking, there is a turn off on the left side well Before the Visitor Center and it's parking. Take it. The lot is level, NO stairs and it's a much shorter walk to the amphitheater to view The Flight. Restrooms are available right there too. Some person with a pickup truck and a LONG camper pulled and park ON about 8 disabled parking spots. How rude...what is wrong with some people of today? People could have really Needed those spaces to park :(
Arrive about 20 minutes before the stated time(the flight time changes per season) to secure your seat. It's a good size area. You'll be looking at a cave opening. A ranger came out to take questions. Her Main reason was to tell ALL to turn off your phone, etc., no flash pics and for ALL to be QUIET as a pin. She said if you have children who don't know what truly QUIET means, to please get up and take them to the standing area in the back. The view is the same. Noise can alter the bats leaving the cave...as in, they won't come out. Well, there were SO many parents who must have thought that advice was for others' children...because they stayed and well, you guessed it...they weren't quite at all. Again, what is wrong with some of the people of today? The rules help everyone and of course...the BATS.
Anyway, the bats came out in a circular flight that was amazing to see. Brought tears to my eyes, really. Thousands of them. They were Quiet and beautiful. In search of food for themselves and the babies in the cave. It lasted a good half hour. It was very near deep dusk then. We were staying the night in White's City. The other nearest town is Carlsbad, a good 20 munites away from the main road and the drive is all in the dark. Glad we stayed the night in White's City.
