Fun Float Day

点评：We went down for a float trip because it was close enough to do for a day trip. I almost hesitate to write this because it was lovely and not busy, even on a summer weekend, and I don't want to make it busy!
We did the three mile float with a combination of tubes and canoes. The pickup was a little confusing because they told us to be there a half hour early but no one was there until 9, our start time, so we were getting nervous about whether we were in the right place. We were and they found us--hint, they expect floaters to park in the grass in the marked off area, not in the parking spaces. The float was lovely. If you think you want to pull over for a bit and see a sandy spot take it because they aren't terribly frequent.
River was very family friendly, as in, slow. I wouldn't have wanted to be in tubes much longer than three miles so it was perfect. We were in the water somewhere between 9:15-9:30, and were done around 1:30. The fastest part was right at the end which made for some comical moves from some of us getting over to the beach to get out without going too far, but all was well.
Thunderbird Lodge, where you start, has a good assortment of water shoes, sunscreen, and hats if you forget them. Nice choice of ice cream flavors too! Cold drinks available in bottles, not fountain.
We had never floated the Big River before but we will again. All six of us had a great day.
