点评:This castle is a truly beautiful and well-preserved site. Restoration work is ongoing, and more areas are being opened to the public over time. The surroundings are picturesque, and there's also a nearby open-air museum and a military exhibition – making it a well-rounded and interesting destination.
But one deeply disturbing issue overshadowed the entire visit: the treatment of the birds of prey kept on site.
Falcons, owls and other birds are displayed without any proper separation from the public. They are tethered on extremely short cords, left sitting exposed without shelter, protection, or any chance to escape the constant stress. Visitors – including small, loud children – can approach them at arm’s length. There is no barrier, no staff supervision, and no regard for the well-being of these highly sensitive animals.
ANIMALS ARE NO TOYS.
This is not just outdated – it is unacceptable in 2025. No animal, especially not birds of prey, should be held in this way. These are wild, majestic creatures that require space, calm, and proper care.
Keeping them in this musery in the middle of tourist traffic is nothing less than animal cruelty.
I really hope animal welfare organizations in Slovakia will forbid this. This needs to change.
