点评:We ended up here on a cloudy day, and that only added to the experience. It starts off like another geothermal field with some nice boardwalks (although some of them are in disrepair) to see some colorful formations, steam jets and pools. The walk is a striking contrast of the barren landscape and the green moss.
But then, as you go along the boardwalk you end up on the crest of a blasted, rugged, steaming lava field, with the mist covered mountains in the distance. The walk through this field winds through some of the most interesting landscape in Iceland, and it felt like being in another world. My kids are conveniently hobbit sized and at times watching them really did seem like watching them descend into Mordor. This was one of our favorite places in Iceland.
Also checkout the nearby Viti Crater, the Visitor Center/power station and the Hvevrir geothermal area.
