点评:We took a day-trip ferry from Bergen to Rosendal as one of the excursion options our holiday to Norway. The Baroniet was recommended as a worthy destination within easy walking distance from the ferry port.
The two-hour ferry crossing was worthwhile for the lovely views alone; we had good weather so can't vouch for conditions during more inclement conditions. The walk to the Baroniet is well signposted with some nice views and at a very leisurely pace going up a slight gradient it took us about 30 minutes.
There is an entry fee with options for tours of the house and gardens (check timings for specific language) and a lovely tea-room/cafe where we had a tranquil rest stop with nice food and drinks. The Baroniet is quite small but packs a lot of interesting history as explained by the tour guide. Covers are provided for footwear and there are stairs to be navigated but each of the rooms we saw had distinctive stories to tell covering the whole history of the building.
We had some time left to quickly explore the beautiful gardens with the most amazing and dramatic backdrop of a stark towering mountain. Again were lucky to have such a beautiful day with glorious sunshine.
A gentle stroll down hill and we were back on the ferry to Bergen.
All-in-all a perfect day trip to a picture-perfect location.
