点评:We enjoyed our visit to the Muckleburgh Collection. This is the largest privately owned military museum in the UK and is located on a WW2 Weybourne Anti-Aircraft Training Camp (which closed in 1958)—the site still contains an RAF radar receiving station.
The museum, founded by Squadron Leader Berry Savory and his son Sir Michael (Lord Mayor of the City of London from 2004 to 2005), opened in 1988 and now contains over 150 artillery pieces, tanks, and other vehicles, most of which are in working order. What we found really interesting were the Soviet-era tanks, the names of which are often mentioned in the news from Ukraine.
Several exhibits are outside of the area you need to pay to visit, some can only be seen via the army lorry tour (which you can take without paying to visit the museum). The trip on the back of the lorry was the highlight of our visit.
Whilst the permitter area was mined, the mines have since been removed, but the warning signs are still in place. This all adds to the excitement of the visit!
