点评:As a WWII Tragic being able to visit the Birthplace of Charles des Gaulle was memorable. He was born in his Maternal Grandparents house and interestingly he was Baptised in nearby stunning St Andre’s Church on the same day he was born. It too was extremely beautiful. The house tour gave close access to so much interesting memorabilia throughout the elegant house and complex. They weren’t poor! Mid Saturday afternoon of our visit there were large queues but we got inside in about 30 minutes. There is a Sporting Display which was very popular in Entry/Gift Shop building and optional Audio Commentary used. The only negative about Audio Tours is they do slow down the flow of visitors between successive points of interest. I’ve often wondered if only using takeaway printouts might be better. Our School French was not up to comprehending signs at POI so we were loaned info sheets in English. The Garden was attractive and another outbuilding had photographic displays throughout CDGs Military life. My opinion of CDG went up enormously after this visit. He was a truly great Patriot, Statesman and apparently, most importantly, a wonderful husband and father.
