点评:If you are visiting Kakadu, then this has to be on the top of your lists of places to visit. This site contains Australia's most outstanding examples of ancient rock art and one of the main reasons Kakadu was granted its World Heritage status.
It is about 30mins from Jabiru (approximately 40km) on a single sealed carriageway.
There were however a number of crossings that still had water on the road, nothing that our 2WD car couldn't get through. Definitely worth checking with the National Park to make sure the roads are all open before driving out there.
The walk to Ubirr via a circular walking track from the car park, is km and takes about an hour, although the climb to the lookout takes a further 30 minutes. It is hard to believe that these artworks, some of which are over 3,000 years old, has not deteriorated and that the level of colour/detail is still easy to make out. What is also amazing is the sheer number of rock art paintings in the area, of all different styles and complexities. Most of the walking trail is relatively flat but you do need to climb over uneven rocks to get close to some of the galleries.
There are basic toilets at the car park but no drinkable water (so make sure you bring fluids with you).
