点评:Great tour, this is a must do activity in Jodhpur. Our guide Ashok was extremely knowledgeable about local customs. We went on a short safari and saw some peacocks and gazelles, but the real highlight was going to the village and seeing how people live there. He explained in detail about the caste system and the different roles the castes play in the area. We participated in an opium ceremony, yes you get to consume opium but it’s a very small quantity so you won’t feel much if anything. The pottery studio was also fascinating, and we got to see the potter throw on his giant manually powered wheel. Finally we went to Ashok’s family home where they also have a rug weaving business and traditional mud huts. We saw his parents meticulously weaving a huge rug on the loom. His wife made us delicious Rajasthani food, very simple but the best meal I had in Jodhpur. There are opportunities to buy pottery and rugs if you want, but they’re not pushy about it.
