A brilliant experience at an outstanding museum of national importance!
Combined Military Services Museum的点评
点评:We made a very happy return to the Combined Forces Museum in Maldon this week and were delighted with the experience. The collection has grown significantly since our last visit, many years ago, and is now, in our opinion, a museum of national importance. The passionate volunteers and staff are doing an outstanding job of curating artifacts and stories for future generations and must be commended. The museum calmly displays the fascinating items in its collection without glorifying the horrific effects of conflict, rather presents them as a warning to future generations. So many of these items would be lost to history without the dedication of independent museums run by people with real passion. I believe that this museum puts our government funded Imperial War Museum to shame.
For people of advancing years, the fonts used on the item descriptions throughout the museum meant that glasses were unnecessary.
Of particular interest to us was the unparalleled collect of spy equipment that once belonged to Captain Peter Mason, personal friend of the James Bond author, Ian Fleming.
I hope that soon the museum will gain funding to expand and accept further artefacts.
Well done to everyone involved!
