点评:We explored the Dunga Bay Wetlands with Barack chieng odok (254-795 066654) both by boat and on foot. He was wonderful! We had met him the day before, and arranged to meet early the next morning when more birds and wildlife would be active. He lives in the local community, and has trained to be a guide. He is very knowledgeable about the ecosystem and its inhabitants, including the fishermen. He gave us an extensive tour of both the wetland environment and the human settlement. He explained the work that was being done to protect the environment, and the educational opportunities offered to schools. We saw numerous new birds, and hung out around a family of hippos. We recommend him highly! The information he shared with us made all of the difference to our understanding and appreciation of the area. As we got off the boat, there was an injured cattle egret laying on the dock. He gently picked it up, and arranged for it to be taken to the Impala Reserve for treatment. He practices what he preaches!
