Beautiful lagoon. Great Crew. But a few hiccups along the way.

点评：Our day trip from Rarotonga to Aitutaki was a memorable experience, with a few bumps along the way.
The day didn’t get off to the best start. Our confirmation email advised a 7:20 am pickup, so we arrived at reception at 7:15 am only to see the bus driving away. Thankfully, the driver turned around and came back for us. At the airport, my husband and I were also separated on the flight, with him in row 2 and me in row 7. We were told we were “lucky last” and there were no seats together, which was a little disappointing.
Once we arrived in Aitutaki things improved. We enjoyed an open-air truck tour of the island before boarding the cruise. Aitutaki is absolutely stunning, with the most incredible turquoise water. We visited three islands, including the famous One Foot Island.
The crew were welcoming, entertaining and worked hard to make the day enjoyable. Lunch was fresh and satisfying, adding to what was a fantastic lagoon experience.
The return flight was unfortunately very turbulent due to a change in the weather, which made for a rather exciting end to the day. While that’s obviously beyond anyone’s control, it’s worth being aware that the plane is small and weather can impact flights.
Despite the rocky start and turbulent finish, Aitutaki Lagoon is beautiful and the cruise itself was a wonderful way to experience it. If you’re visiting Rarotonga, it’s definitely a day trip worth doing but book early.
