Excited to visit, great castle, staff however…

Our family, including several members of the Hay clan, recently visited Delgatie Castle. While we were excited to explore our ancestral roots, our experience was unfortunately overshadowed by a less-than-welcoming reception.
Despite emailing a month in advance to inform the castle of our visit, we received no acknowledgment or indication of any special arrangements. Upon arrival, we were met with a rather curt response from a staff member, who informed us that a tour was not possible due to a private event.
While we understand unforeseen circumstances can arise, the lack of hospitality and apparent disinterest in our family's connection to the castle was disappointing. We felt rushed and surveilled during our brief visit, which detracted from our intended appreciation of the history and heritage associated with Delgatie.
Despite these negative interactions, we were able to enjoy the beautiful grounds and take in the numerous Hay emblems. It's a shame that such a significant historical site could be marred by a less-than-ideal visitor experience.
