点评:Dovedale National Trust nature reserve is one of Englands truly beautiful locations, particularly the walk between the NT car park & Milldale, (around 3 miles). The pathway, which in several places is rocky, steppy, with a steepness in places, (not suitable for wheelchairs or baby buggies), hugs the riverside for it's whole length, birdlife is in abundance, including Dippers & the odd Heron if you're lucky, so photographers be ready with your kit. There are accessible caves enroute, please watch where you're putting your feet if entering them. Upon reaching Milldale, you'll find a small cafe where you can get takeaway drinks & snacks, we retraced our steps once reaching here, but I believe you can continue your walk to Hartington, in fact, you take a circular route, which takes you up onto the crags above, speak to the NT officials at the main carpark for more details. Note. The stepping stones across the river are a popular spot, they're quite large & flat, but still, for those who aren't great with balance, take your time. The river at this point is extremely shallow, especially as it's been so dry recently. The carpark is free if you're a National trust member, otherwise it's pay & display. Please leave this beautiful place as you find it, litter free. If you're visiting the Peak district, put Dovedale on your bucket list.
