点评：The ancient theatre of Philippopolis is one of the best preserved Roman theatres in the world. Built in the 1st century AD/CE, this structure is still in use and it can accommodate audiences of up to somewhere between 4000 and 7000 people, although it's difficult to ascertain the exact maximum capacity as the various sources differ on this matter. Over the years I have attended several operas and concerts here and this has always been a memorable experience.
The theatre is located in the Old Town of Plovdiv and it offers some great views of the city. A standard ticket costs 5 levs, which is the equivalent of €2.56. I would say that this is very good value for money, though you should note that there aren't many railings, so going up and down the theatre is a bit like climbing a mountain. Also, you're unlikely to spend more than half an hour here and you will have to go up lots of fairly steep steps in the Old Town in order to get to this attraction. Nevertheless, I would say that the theatre is still worth going to as you can spend at least another half an hour to an hour exploring the picturesque Old Town after your visit here.
