Reservations are Worthless

点评：As a TA member for nearly 20 years I have read my share of reviews and then some. So, I know that when you read a negative review you know it’s about one persons opinion at a given point in time. You will have to decide whether booking an advance reservation at Planeta is worth the risk.
I had dedicated hours and hours of time researching the ‘best’ possible wineries to visit on Mt Etna where we weren’t herding along with the crowd. I had studied wine over 25 weeks in NYC and was excited to experience the best Sicily had to offer.
I had settled on Planeta as one of two choices. We booked a 2.5 hour ‘experience’ which included wine, olive oil and food. We invested hundreds of Euro in hiring a car service. While we were a 1/2 hour away I checked my email to see that I was being informed that our booking was cancelled - sent at 9:20 am for an 11:00 reservation which we were asked to arrive 15 mins early to. They referred to the safety of their employees and guests since there were heavy rains the night before.
As a result, we had our driver pull over to the side of the road as we furiously tried contacting many wineries in the same town and vicinity all of whom were open, honoring their bookings and unavailable for new reservations
.All we were offered was a discount for a reservation two days later…. Even though we were spending hundreds of Euro for a driver that day. So, they couldn’t give a damn about THEIR guests since a 1.5 hour notice,by email
no less, certainly isn’t enough time.
