Museum close to my family's heart
Berwick-upon-Tweed Barracks and Main Guard的点评
点评：This is a fantastic place to visit full of both military and local history with amazing friendly knowledgeable guides who certainly enhanced the experience for us.
The Berwick Museum and Art Gallery (in the building opposite the main entrance) has particular interest for my family as it.contains many exhibits from both the Wallace and Carr lines of our family tree.
Having been shocked to see so many family artifacts a few years back, this time we called the museum a week in advance of our visit and spoke to the wonderful Jenny Vevers.
In advance of our visit, Jenny sorted out lots of items related to our family not currently being exhibited to show us when we visited. Highlights were:
- looking through a volume of the Quintet and finding about Jenny's version which won first place for a school project.
- seeing family portraits to put a face to those names on our family tree ( both stern and friendly).
- stunning art nouveau door finger plates created by my great grandmother ( I wish I had her and the rest of our family's artistic talent).
It was a wonderful day made special by all the people at the museum but particularly Jenny who we cannot thank enough for making the visit so incredible.
