点评：To finish Lisa’s birthday weekend, we decided to visit Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard on Long Island — a place we’ve enjoyed many times in the past.
We were warmly greeted by a bartender and told to sit anywhere. There were only a few people inside. As we settled in, a manager abruptly approached us, visibly agitated, saying, “I can’t! I can’t! I can’t! This has to move. I can’t have this blocking my aisle.” He was referring to our dog, Minn-Erva who had just calmly sat down beside us as she always does.
We had just arrived. The establishment was nearly empty. There was no obstruction or issue — yet the tone and delivery were unnecessarily confrontational.
Rather than allow the situation to escalate, we chose to leave. Sometimes when you’re made to feel unwelcome, the best decision is to walk away.
We won’t be returning after this interaction. In hospitality, attitude matters — and the way guests are approached can make or break a business.
Thankfully, our day was turned around by the welcoming atmosphere at LIVS (Long Island Vodka Spirits) and Jason Vineyards in Jamesport NY where we were treated with genuine courtesy.
