Hollytrees Museum的点评
点评：The Hollytrees museum is located close to Colchester castle on the edge of Castle Park.
It is around a third of a mile from Colchester Town station on foot and the main station is a mile and a quarter away.
The museum is housed in a fine old Georgian building over several floors.
There’s a fine collection of old clocks in the Bernard Mason clock gallery. Colchester was renowned for clockmaking in years gone by.
I liked the paintings by 19th century local artist John Vines and the rooms containing old toys, costumes and household appliances.
The main exhibit, however, was the skeleton of a dinosaur unearthed in Wyoming called Juliasaurus.
Whilst the exhibits were decent, there was not enough content in the museum. I spent barely twenty minutes there and saw everything comfortably.
I don’t begrudge the £6 admission fee as museums like this require funds, but most other museums have considerably more exhibits and charge less.
The museum is closed on Sunday.
