A very special place to visit and stay

点评：We recently visited this winery for a couple of days with friends from Tokyo who organised the trip.
We came from Tokyo to Niigata by Shinkansen a journey of just over 300 kilometres , then a small local train to Uchino, the winery picked us up by bus from there and close to another 30 minute trip to the winery which is at the foot of the mountains,.
A very nice welcome in the foyer area of Winerystay Travigne the accommodation part of the complex with one of their wines.
We were escorted to our very spacious room that had a private veranda area looking out to the vines with a great view of Mt. Kakuda.
We were taken on a winery tour, we could pick some grapes to sample.
Then the guide who was very good took us through the wine making areas,, it was all in Japanese but interesting none the less.
The meal that night was a set nine course affair, with wine pairing ,very small portions but we were not hungry by the time we finished.
All the food is fresh and local , scrumptious.
The final course some little cakes was given to us in the foyer lounge , a very nice touch , the staff were all excellent.
Sleep quality was excellent as was the breakfast in the morning.
This is a great place in the Japanese countryside to visit, a real treat
